DP, Erwin, Tech Support by DreamsInChrome2000-12-24 00:21:02
Christmas vs. Greed by Pritzen 2000-12-24 03:56:54
Ah, how well I remember last year.... On the front lines on the phone doing tech support for a relatively new company, only a hundred thousand or so registered users. I was scheduled for Christmas Day, so I would be there anyway, but we had people not scheduled for coming in anyway because our company pays triple-time for holidays. Overtime was approved, so that meant triple-time-and-a-half for some. We had at least one person I know of make a two hour drive from his parent's house so he could get the lucrative holiday pay. We ended up sending someone to get a TV and VCR and watched movies most of the night. Was a rough shift, I tell ya. Here it is a year and 5 million registered users later. I'm on salary now, so no triple time for me, but I'm scheduled to work again so I'll be there. Doubt we'll see the TV and VCR either. So many more employees now that we wouldn't fit around one TV like last year anyway. Ah well, I'm rambling now. My wish for Christmas: I hope the call volume is down because everyone is enjoying the holidays with their family and my techs get a break from the phones. I would like to wish Happy Holidays to everybody out there in whichever way you wish to enjoy them! DreamsInChrome wrote: >And your military/defense forces.
