      Here's my solution.... by mikef 2000-12-17 06:52:13
Sorry, forgot to change the subject line... Mermaid wrote: >Well - Let's see...First of all, I wasn't expecting sympathy. I was *expecting* helpful suggestions. The laughter was not unexpected and (I will admit this) justified. However, I have yet to hear a real solution to my problem. I can understand why DSL would be too much hassle. You'd have to have a network inside of your dorm, assuming that there is more than one computer. And you'd have to deal with the support issues that come with doing *anything* out of "But that's not what $someone has at their house!". And I'm also assuming that you probably don't get along with them either. Here's my solution: Since you live in SoCal, go to this isp http://www.surfside.net. I used them before I got my DSL a year ago. Go to any free email service and have them sign up. Yahoo, or whatever. Also check out www.crosswinds.net if they want pop3 service. I don't think that having several people in one account is a good solution for anything except a family. Because anyone could leave at any time, and email shouldn't be associated with where you live. Hope this helps. Mike
