| I dunno ... this unemployment thing is pretty bad, but I once worked as a RETAIL Hardware tech. I won't name the store chain, but I quit in disgust after several rather bad incidents : They expected me to do the impossible on a regular basis, using my OWN tools and equipment (The store had just opened, and not until a week after I resigned did they have a toolkit and computer for the tech), and without any method of ordering NECESSARY PARTS to do some of the upgrades (Like a bracket kit for an old Compaq) ... And the pay was $8 an hour. I was the HEAD of the department, acknowledged as the in-store technical expert, and on call every hour that the store was open in the event something needed fixing or one of the junior techs screwed up ... and I was making $2 an hour less than the head cashier, and actually making less than some members of the salesfloor staff (NOT counting commissions).
Needless to say, I have since seriously soured to the idea of doing that kind of work again ... |
