Ah ben voilà .... Let me first state I am glad that both answers I got were balanced and made some true points. I also admit I did write this in a slightly provocative mood to see whether I could get a reaction from my fellow swiss countrymen. There is a point to make though ... Both of you mentioned I should use some obscure patois or dialect... Well, I don't actually use any, having grown up like the majority romand speaking (accented) french, but french nonetheless. My point was that swiss germans do not have a written language, they use german when they have to use the official written language. (Virtually) everything nowadays written in swiss german is according to the user's perception of phonetic interpretation. Why can't there be a unified swiss german, written and spoken. This wouldn't mean local dialects couldn't be used, but I would make it easier for anyone who's not from your particular valley to understand what's going on ... And they could learn it !!
