The USA is a REPUBLIC !!! by six_pense 2000-11-10 15:17:49
D*&N IT! Next time I hear someone call the United States a democracy I am going to scream. Elected officials = republic. If every decision was left to a majority vote not only would nothing ever get done but the consequences would be horrendous. Someone check my history for me but I do believe that every democracy ever known has collapsed in upon itself. It is well known that the majority of people are stupid. I myself am quite intelligent(relatively speaking) and I am hardly qualified to make certain decisions that would affect this nation. Also has anyone ever noticed how many tyrannical governments call themselves democracies? Scares the hell outta me when I here our leaders call us a democracy and more so when it comes from my fellow Americans
