Well, the problem is that you're remembering the movie wrong.

No, he was hired by Jabba to get Solo. He was hired by Vader to track the Millenium Falcon and capture "them" alive. Vader did not say in the movie who the "them" were, which could (since he probably didn't know Luke was on Dagobah) have meant Luke, too.
Anyway, the whole thing was a plan by Vader to capture Luke. Since the plan fell through, the logical thing would be for Vader to find someone to pin the blame on. What better target for blame than the bounty hunter?
Or, given that this is User Friendly, should the sentence be "What better target for blame than the outside contractor?" |
