Electronic Voting by pennhoosier 2000-11-09 13:19:54
>what's our other option? Force everyone to bring a #2 >pencil and hope they fill in the bubble correctly so >the ScanTron can read it? I've voted in Indiana and Pennsylvania (but not in the same year), and both states had electronic voting machines. These are pretty slick. A large (2x2 foot) laminated ballot is on top of a set of pressure-sensitive "buttons," which feel a lot like the tamper-evident caps on a Snapple bottle. A little green arrow lights up in the box for the candidate you've selected, and moves if you change your mind. When all the green arrows are where you want them, you press a button at the bottom of the machine, and it records your vote and emits a video-game sounding beep. I believe the electronically-recorded votes are manually downloaded and tabulated at the county courthouse.
