One last thing..Asking about distributions and such in and of itself can be a dumb question. If you pose the question to a large enough group it could raise some danders and cause a war. As for Red Hat, not a bad choice for a neophyte, but be prepared for a potential LONG install time. It's default partitioning tool (Disk Druid) wants you to set seperate partitions for almost every major directory, incluuding usr, /, boot et. al. On top of that Red Hat has some quirks of it's own that can be annoying. If you want to go to Red Hat, do not pay for it. FInd a free distribution and load that...then upgrade the Kernel after the fact. You may find that when you've outgrown it you're sorry you spent the money on the store package. One mroe site for you...http://www.kernel.org Grom wrote: >>Try not to bug the hell out of Linux users with really dumb questions, there's nothing that annoys me more. :) >Thanks, I was already looking at Red Hat as an option and thanks for some of the sites. I will try not to bug the hell of of Linux users :-) Since I'm using a spare computer for this trial and error will probably teach me a lot more anyhow. >-Grom
