| the only perfect platform for a system's games is the system itself. a console has completly different system architecture as compared to a pc. graphicsthe only thing a console does is play games, while pcs have to do all kinds of stuff. the N64 has a main cpu speed of about 50 mhz or so (i think, my #s may be off) and very little ram compared to a good pc. the good old 16-bit systems have even slower cpus (8 or 16 mhz, not sure). bleem! makes a very good psx emulator for the pc, but it is far from perfect, many games dont work, and others are unstable. a pc can emulate console games, but never perfectly. dont get me wrong, I love pcs and their gaming, but consoles have their upsides too. btw, bleem is also releasing their emulator for the dreamcast, which will have better game performance than the same game on the psx -- ps2 does a perfect emulation, bad gfx and all. |
